An 8 day, multi-genre, non-credit class just for alumni, led by the amazing Zac Hug, with optional reading events, film screenings and evening social events.

Dates: Wednesday July 3 to Friday July 12th, 2024.

Workshop Description

Getting an MFA was, for a lot of us, such a creative time because it required the focus that our daily lives can sometimes get in the way of. Want to do it again for ten days in a groovy somewhat summer-camp-like atmosphere? Come spend a week with some fellow alumni and work on that novel, or screenplay, or poetry collection, non-fiction work, or really most any writing project you’ve been trying to find the time for. We don’t strive to get the work finished, but instead use exercises in visualization, character explorations, and change of perspective to reignite that project or give it the burst of energy you’ll need to finish it, all with a focus on getting back into the things you love about writing. Through workshops, discussion, in-class writing, and one or two special guests, we’ll try to break you through a wall or set you on a new course.

Early Bird

Sign up before April 30th to get our Early Bird Rate of $835 (plus GST).

Travel & Accommodation

Travel and accommodation are not included in these fees; participants must make their own arrangements.

Low Enrolment

We reserve the right to cancel the class for low enrolment (fewer than 6 students). Any cancellation will be communicated to all students by June 18th.

Refunds

You may withdraw for a complete refund at any point up to June 18th. Any refunds after the 18th will be for 50% of the fee paid.

Faculty Book Seminar

On the first day of the residency (July 3), summer faculty will host the Faculty Book Seminar. Each faculty member will select a book (and/or TV series) on which they’ll be leading a 90-minute, craft-based discussion. We will send information on the Book Seminar to registered participants closer to the start of the residency.
